The Minnesota Child Welfare Training Academy (MNCWTA) is a collaboration between the Child Safety and Permanency (CSP) Division at the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) and the University of Minnesota. Its mission is to train, develop, and support the skills, expertise, and well-being of Minnesota’s child welfare workforce while nurturing a commitment to equitable child welfare practice.

Also partnering in this critical child welfare training collaboration is the Center for Regional and Tribal Child Welfare Studies (CRTCWS) and the Tribal Training Certification Partnership (TTCP) at the University of Minnesota Duluth, providing their expertise in tribal child welfare and working with American Indian families, tribes, and communities.

The MNCWTA provides training for Minnesota county agencies and tribes that carry cases in child welfare and child protection, as well as their supervisors and a small number of private providers who deliver child welfare services on behalf of the counties.
